VOLUNTEER

Each year over 150+ volunteers help make the Palm Springs AIDS Walk & Run a safe and fun event for all participants. If you are interested in volunteering, listed below are some ways you can help. Set Up
1:00 PM at Ruth Hardy Park on Friday, October 22nd


Break Down
2:30 PM at Ruth Hardy Park on October 23rd


Registration 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM
Volunteers are responsible for checking in Walkers, collecting funds, and distributing incentives. Registration volunteers must be at least 16 years old and willing to attend a mandatory orientation scheduled prior to the event.


Monitors 8:00 AM to 12 Noon approximately
Help keep walkers and runners safe and assist the City of Palm Springs to keep traffic running smoothly. You will also direct Walkers and Runners as necessary and encourage them as they Walk or Run along the route. Some monitors will help at water stations along the route. You must be 16 years of age or accompanied by an adult. A mandatory meeting will be held at Desert AIDS Project at 1695 N. Sunrise Way in Palm Springs, prior to the event.


Set Up Volunteers & Hosts 7:00 AM
Set up and host volunteers will arrive before the event and help direct walkers to the various activity areas in the park and set up booths and activity areas. Some hosts will be assigned to various activity areas as coordinators for those sites. A mandatory meeting will be held at Desert AIDS Project prior to the event.


Hospitality 7:00 AM
Hospitality volunteers help distribute food and welcome volunteers to the event. Volunteers will be posted in the park.


Pre-Event Volunteers

bull Poster and Registration Form Distribution
– Volunteers help to distribute posters to area merchants, hotels, resorts, etc. Distribution will begin last week of August.
bull Phone Bank, August 14, 10 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 4 PM, at Desert AIDS Project
- Volunteers call previous Walk Team Captains to inform them about the upcoming Walk and encourage them to participate again this year.
bull Incentive Bag Filling October 19, 9 AM to 12 PM, at Desert AIDS Project
